Flat Stool

This was a brief set to design some seating for an educational environment that could be transported, stored and constructed easily on site by the user.

As part of a group of 4 others we began designing. My design was chosen in the initial concept stages for its simplicity and function. The idea with the flat design was simply to make shipping and manufacturing costs a lot cheaper.

Through the project we managed to build a really good contacts database with local manufacturers and suppliers which was another section to the module.

This was a 1 week long project in my 2nd year at University. We were in teams of 3-4 and each team was given a sheet material, ours was stainless steel.

The solution was simple; a waterjet cut NET which could be folded/assembled on site by the users or by assemblers that are provided. Simply held together with 4 rivets, inside the leg of the chair.
